This drawing is a realistic depiction of the back hallway at notre dame. This drawing was made by the use of various types of charcoal, paper, and pencil. Value and line are two elements that are represented in this drawing. Lines were basically what made the drawing and value is used by variation of shades. Movement and proportion are two principles used. The one-point perspective creates movement by sending the eye down the hall. Proportion is greatly used by the obvious reality of the work. i chose this view because i have always seen this hallway as the nicest.
Still-life Drawing
This drawing is a realistic depiction of two lamps. This drawing was made using charcoal, a view finder, and paper. Value and line are represented by the variation of light and dark contrasts and by the shapes created. proportion is used by the varying sizes of the lamps. Contrast is used by the lights and darks. I enjoyed how the reflections turned out.
Charcoal Project
Gracie
This drawing is a realistic drawing of my horse Amazing Grace a.k.a. Gracie. The drawing was done using various types of charcoal on paper. Value is incorporated by the different shades of charcoal throughout the drawing. There is a sense of space due to the background being further away and the horse's face being close. Unity is noticed in this drawing because there is a uniform, soft shade throughout the drawing. Movement makes an appearance by the different bone structures in the horse's face and how that creates movement of the shading. I chose to draw Gracie because I love my horse very much (really horse's in general) and therefore, I was inclined to draw a picture of something I enjoy looking at.
The Lioness
This drawing is a realistic drawing of a Lioness roaring. This artwork was done using pen and ink, brushes, water, pencil, and watercolor paper. Due to the black background there is a ton of emphasis on the lioness. The fur has a sense of rhythm due to its repetitiveness. Yet again due to the black background, there is a feeling of a vast and unknown space that surrounds the lioness. The fur has a variety of different textures that bring out the uniqueness of her coat. I chose this drawing because i have never really experimented with pen and ink due to its daunting permanence. Therefore, I chose to challenge myself with a very textured and expressive lioness.
The Hand
This drawing is a realistic drawing of me laying on the ground of my wooded floor with my hand rested in the forefront of the photo. This piece of artwork was done using various prisma colored pencils and pencil to lightly trace the contours of the photo. The texture of the wood was hard to recreate, but I think I did an okay job. I am proud of how i did the hand; The shape of the hand is very realistic. The proportion of how large the hand had to be to represent realism, is accurate and it is my favorite part of the drawing. Therefore, that's why i named this drawing "The Hand." Due to the size of the hand, there is great emphasis on its size and detail. I chose to do this picture because it appealed to me and the photo itself kind of draws you in and I wanted to be able to recreate that look with colored pencils.
